Still figuring out your role as an employer during the COVID vaccination campaign? Follow the guidance below from DHEC for ideas on how to play an important role as the process continues to unfold.
Continue taking small steps that make a big difference. Urge employees to avoid large gatherings, wear masks, and get tested regularly if they're out in the community (even if they're not showing symptoms).
Stay up-to-date on what phase of vaccine distribution we are in, and inform your workers accordingly. Some may be eligible before others. Continue educating your workforce on the need for the vaccine, and encourage them to take proper precautions to slow the spread (mask-wearing, hand-washing, physical distancing, etc.).
Employers, if you have access to on-site medical staff and can meet the storage and other requirements, then become a vaccine provider. If you can't be a provider, find one in your area, or encourage your employees to find one on their own. Provide time off or other incentives to encourage them to get vaccinated.

As of March 31, all South Carolinians age 16 and up, including frontline workers with increased occupational risk, are eligible for the COVID-19 vaccine.
DHEC defines frontline workers as those who:
- Must be in-person at their place of work, and
- Perform a job that puts them at increased risk of exposure due to their frequent, close (less than 6 feet), and ongoing (more than 15 minutes) contact with others in the work environment
Some examples of people who may be frontline workers based on risk may include: school staff, daycare workers, criminal justice staff, government employees, manufacturing workers, grocery store workers, and law enforcement officers.
Share on-site clinic details with your employees, or tell them to use DHEC's Vaccine Locator to find a vaccine provider close by.
